In a few words...

It is always exciting to list a rare car... Both for us and especially for the owners.  This Mercury Meteor Montcalm 1972 is for sure a very rare piece as only 1397 were produced... For the last 10 years, the daughter and spouse of original owner went to shows to discover the old cars world... Everywhere they go, they won prices for the quality of the car in fully original condition, never restored.  Everywhere they go, they have the same comment: this car doesn't exist!!!

Indeed it did exist as stated by the letter from Ford Historical department (last picture in the "numbers" section.  Very few produced and to our knowledge (Ford, Owners and us), it is the only survivor.  The only thing to be changed to bring it back 100% original is the tires (spare tire in the trunk is original).  I am very sorry that the pictures didn't turn out very well because of the sun... This is a very very nice car.  Of course, 31 years and 58K miles later, it does have some signs of use but it was never restored and that's also a major point of interest about that car.  The paint and chrome look almost new.

The first owner (buyer and father of the actual owner) was very very careful with his car.  He never used it during winter... on rainy days... on gravel roads... he required perfect weather and road conditions to give a ride to his car... and it shows!  Her daughter told me a story about a dinner they had at their uncle when she was young and as they arrived, there was about 1 mile to drive on the gravel... He said: no way.  He turned around and cancelled the dinner!

One other thing is very strange about that car: the floor carpet.  As we lift the rear seat (see picture), we notice that it was originaly brown... and as you can see, it is now green!  One thing  for sure, it was not dyed... and it was not burned by the sun because it was always stored and because the green is the same all over (even underneath the front seats)!  We presume that the dye was not of good quality back then and it just changed color with aging.

The paint has some touchpaint and very little flaws.  The chrome is intact all around (shining as new!), the vinyl hardtop is simply like new, the car drives fabulously and starts like a new one.  Very few things were changed (spark plugs and cables, radiator cap, carbs rebuilt, front rear ball joint, battery, tires) and all of them (except tires) were replaced with original Ford parts.  Even the oil filter is a Ford.

I challenge you to find another 2 Doors Hardtop Meteor Montcalm 1972 in the same condition... The pictures just don't do justice to the car.  You would like to amaze car shows jury... Get this car and enjoy the ride!  Plus the value will keep rising as the years go by...

I did put a lot of pictures so you can find the details you are looking for but don't hesitate to contact me if you need any other info... ericgarant@hotmail.com

Want to save a few $$$?

We suggest that you fly up to drive it back home... Or you can pick it up with a trailer!  You will have a lot of fun, save the 200$US custom fee for paperwork and also save a lot on shipping (gas is much less expensive).  A nice ride with a friend or your spouse!  The border process is very easy, we provide the 2 documents you need to cross the border and they will explain to the forms to fill.  Very simple and you can save between 500$US and 1500$US depending on your location.  We are located in Quebec City (Province of Quebec, Canada).

PAYMENT TERMS & CONDITIONS

Payment terms will be discussed with winner bidder (bank wire is the fastest and easiest option). Of course, serious bidders only. Full payment before shipping the vehicule. I like to keep my customers happy as you can tell by my feedback profile. The car is not mine, We are brokers and we take care of all the paperwork, payment and "smooth" transaction process.

All sales are FINAL, can't take it back to Canada (too much troubles and too expensive!). You can come over and inspect the car if you wish though. We have sold approximately 30 cars on eBay now and everything went smoothly. We can give references if desired.

CUSTOMS, EPA & DOT STUFF

Custom fee is 200$US for the paperwork and that's it.

On the EPA (Environment Protection Agency) and DOT (Department of Transportation) side, the rules are a little different for car "25 years +" and my broker handles the paper for that so the import process will be quite easier.

We will have all the paperwork prepared and you won't have to get your own custom broker.   I take care of everything.  All you have to add to your winning bid is shipping (if you don't come up to drive it back home), your State Federal tax (at your licence bureau when you get the titles) and the customs (if it applies).  The car is ready to go... papers process can take about 1 to 2 weeks depending on how fast you want the car and payment arrives (bank wire is the fastest option).

SHIPPING TERMS

Shipping a car from Quebec (Canada) to Virginia is about 550$US, to Florida, around 1250$US and to Kansas would be more around 1600$US depending on the location. We always ship in a closed trailer van. Again, payment and shipping terms will be discussed with winning bidder... If you do not intend to complete the transaction, please do not place a bid.  GOOD LUCK !
